Maybe the condition of the bed should have told us that the Horror lurked just below the surface!

Removing the rear fenders showed that parts of the bottom of the bed were gone, including most of its structural integrity. I don't know if it was factory or not, but four massive "C"-channels have been welded across the from to support the bed. They were either done by a professional or were done at the factory.

Not a lot of pictures here. We build some sawhorses so we could lift up the cab from the frame, set it down and roll the chassis back out. I"m an anal (small "a") civil engineer, so we did this with just three people (Sean, me and his brother Ryan to move the sawhorses into position.)

One pict from the front. (Yes the barn is leaning).

Another look from the back side
Just so you guys with basket cases think we got off easy, the frame was rotted through at the rear leaf spring mount. The running boards were none existent up under the cab. (couldn't even tell what the shape should have been. All four corners of the cab were rotted. Front pillers rotted away from the remains of the floor and their bottoms were gone. ("Remains" of the floor is kind, as we could tell it was flat and might have had some ribs and at one time been attached to the firewall) Back wall of cab was "paper" thin and the front roof was pin-holed and the inner front window header was rotted away

That's Sean making sure he will be able to fit in it!.
